Smartskin
 | |
Animation Master's Smartskin Tool is incredibly powerful and works wonders, here's a really quick rundown on using it.
From your models bone view, select a bone (Im going with the Left Calf bone). Right click and select New Smartksin.
|
 | |
A new window will pop up and the selected limb will be rotated 90 degrees (usually in the wrong direction)
Make sure you bring up your timeline.
|
 | |
In the timeline change the numbers around so that the limb is bending the way you want it to.
|
 | |
As-is it's deforming pretty badly. Switch over into Muscle Mode.
|
 | |
Adjust the points until it looks "right." Do this for different bend positions and rotations.
And that's it! You're done with that limb, whenever you bend it the mesh will deform the way you set.
|
 | |
Here's a handy trick. It can only be done if your model is perfectly symetrical (like this one).
With your Left Calf SS window selected, Select the entire mesh. Do an Edit > Copy.
|
 | |
Open up the opposite limb, Calf Right, make sure it's also bending in the same direction as the left.
|
 | |
Do an Edit > Copy Mirrored!
Boom! It should have copied the Smartskin setting from the other leg. Saving you a lot of time.
|
 | |
In the modeling section I said to leave the mesh on fingers very light, because of that it deforms
really REALLY badly.
|
 | |
But SS fixes all that.
Continue setting Smartskin for all the joints and move onto the next section.
