Detailed Information![]()
This plugin is a complete rewrite of the extruder - plugin that comes with a:m. It has several more features and provides much more accurate spline following.Usage
There are 2 basic roles involved: the path and the shape.
The shape will be extruded multiple times and the extrusions will be placed along the path.
The parameters:
The bias values control how much the extrusion is "bent" in one direction.
- start size - the size multiplier to start with
- end size - the size multiplier to end with
- size bias - see below
- path sub-sam - subsamples. controls how fine the line following operates. at rare occassions extrusions get flipped or twisted. increase this value to correct these errors.
- path bias - see below
- turns - number of turns the shape will undergo along the spline
- steps - number of extrusions
- extrude/copy - the duplication method that will be used. use copy for the wood pieces of a railroad track and extrude for the rails.
To define the shape, select the CPs you want to use as shapes and create a group named "shape" (rename the "unnamed" to "shape").Examples:
the "shape" - group's pivot will be ignored. 0|0|0 will be used as the pivot and the y-axis will be the axis pointing along the path spline (use the parameter R Offset to control the rotation around this y-axis).
Select a CP of the path spline you want to use.
Right-click on your selection and select Plugins > Wizards > ZuperExtrude. Make your settings and click OK.
Create the shape and path.
note that you see the XZ (top) - view here. Its important that the shape is facing this way.
Name the shape "shape".
Start the ZuperExtrude plugin.
Make your settings.
click ok.
for this image the rails were additionally extruded. they have the same settings, but the duplication method was "extrude".
Version History
This was created with these settings: (startsize=0, endsize=2.5, sizebias=0, pathbias=-0.5, turns=0, rOffset=0 steps=30).
The path was created with Zpiral.
The object was fially solidified usind puZh
A circle as path, a slightly edged (lower magnitudes) circle as shape. 40 steps and 4 Turns.

1.1 Bugfix: does not allow to be applied on empty selection anymore.
Download zuperextrude.zip Version 1.1. This plugin is only available for puZh owners.<< home
Unzip, copy the ZExtrude.hxt to your A:M HXT plugin folder (likeC:\Program Files\Hash Inc\V90\hxt ).
Open A:M 9.0, right - click in a modeling window with nothing selected, select "Plugins", then "Wizards", then "ZuperExtrude...".
Use this plugin at your own risk, i did not have any kind of problem while using it, but its always a good idea to save often. especially before using a plugin.
